8 apples, cored and sliced (keep the skins on!)
3 cups apple cider or apple juice (make sure that there's no added sugar)
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1 Tbs. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
Place the cut apples in the bottom of the slow cooker and add the cider, lemon juice, and spices. Set your slow cooker to low and the timer for 12-15 hours. Walk away.
Once the apples have browned, and most of the juices have been reduced, use an immersion blender and blend until nice and smooth.
If your apple butter still has a bit of liquid in it just place it in a pot on the stove and cook, uncovered, for about 15 minutes.
Once the apple butter has cooled, you can put into a jar. It will keep in your fridge for about 3-4 months.
